“Design and coding of software for deep-space antennas analysis with implementation on parallel computing architectures”

Abstract:

Development of a parallel optimizer for dychroic mirror optimal shaping and a parallel physical optics algorithm for sensitivity analysis on deep-space microwave antennas. A preliminar analysis of the involved algorithms has been made, then both of the parallel softwares have been designed and coded in Fortran using either OpenMP and MPI. OpenMP codes have been executed on a shared-memory multi-processor server and MPI codes have been executed on a cluster. Execution time results have been collected and comparisons between parallel and serial execution scenarios were made proving, for both of the softwares, the benefits of parallel computing in terms of speedup of the serial execution time.

B.Sc.

“Separation of concerns and implementation of a simulated physical problem”

Abstract:

Java visual simulation of a 3D-volume filling using smoothed particles, which discretize a fluid continuum. The work focuses on clear concern sparation among software classes and on the correct implementation of the MVC design pattern, thus allowing to open multiple views on the simulation, which can be stopped and resumed at will
